SellOrchard

Point of Sale

A till that already knows your online stock

Open the POS on a tablet, scan or tap products into the cart and take payment in cash, on your own card terminal, or with a gift card or store credit. Each sale is a real order in your admin, stock comes off the shelf at that location, and the shift's cash is counted at close.

  • Runs in the browser on iPad, Android tablets and desktops
  • Each register belongs to a location with its own stock
  • Big touch targets, keyboard shortcuts on desktop

Availability: Pro and Advanced plans — included in the free trial (test mode)

A day at the till

From opening float to Z-report

  1. Step 1: Open a shift

Pick the register and enter the opening float. One shift can be open per register, so every cash movement belongs to someone.

  2. Step 2: Build the cart

Scan with a USB or Bluetooth scanner, use the tablet camera, search by name or SKU, or tap a quick key. Adjust quantities and attach a customer.

  3. Step 3: Take payment

Split across cash (enter what's tendered, see the change), card on your own terminal, gift card, store credit or a custom method.

  4. Step 4: Hand over the receipt

Print an 80mm receipt, email it, or text it when messaging is connected. Then start the next sale.

  5. Step 5: Close and count

Enter the counted cash. The Z-report shows sales, refunds, cash in and out, expected cash and the difference.

Cash you can account for

Every shift ends with a report you can print

Cash paid in or taken out during the day — a float top-up, a supplier paid from the drawer — is recorded with a reason. When you close the shift, the Z-report compares the cash you counted with what the drawer should hold and breaks the day down by payment method.

Old shifts stay available, so you can reprint a report when the books need checking.

  • Gross, discounts, refunds, net and tax per shift
  • Totals per payment method
  • Opening float, cash sales, cash refunds, cash in and cash out
  • Counted versus expected, with the difference

Built for a queue, not a demo

  • Scanner-ready search

Hardware scanners work as a fast keyboard: scan a barcode and the item drops into the cart. Search matches names, SKUs and GTINs, and shows stock at this register's location.

  • Camera scanning

No scanner? Supported browsers can read barcodes through the tablet or phone camera.

  • Quick keys

Pin your best sellers as big buttons for coffee-shop speed.

  • Discounts with limits

Apply discount codes or a manual discount. You set the maximum manual discount percentage staff can give, and whether prices can be overridden.

  • Customers at the till

Find or create a customer in seconds, or require one for every sale. Attached customers earn and redeem loyalty points.

  • Returns & exchanges

Look up the order by number or receipt barcode, choose the items and refund to cash, the original method or store credit. Stock goes back to this location.

Questions

Point of Sale: answered

Still curious? The help center walks through every setting.

What hardware do I need?

A tablet or computer with a modern browser. A USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner that types like a keyboard works out of the box, a receipt printer that prints from the browser handles 80mm receipts, and supported browsers can also scan barcodes with the camera.

How are card payments taken?

On your own card terminal. The POS records the card payment against the sale, with an optional reference or the last four digits. SellOrchard doesn't charge fees on these sales.

Does POS share stock with my online store?

Yes. Each register belongs to a location; POS sales deduct stock there, and locations that fulfil online orders count toward what your website shows as available.

Can I take returns in the shop for online orders?

Yes. Find the order by its number or receipt barcode, select the items and refund to cash, the original method or store credit. The stock returns to the register's location.

Can staff give discounts?

They can apply discount codes and a manual discount up to the maximum percentage you set. Price overrides are off unless you switch them on.

Which plans include Point of Sale?

Pro and Advanced. It's also included in the free trial in test mode so you can set up registers and try a shift before choosing a plan.
